Avramopoulos: EC not intending to alter refugee policy on return to Italy-Greece
The EU Commissioner for Migration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, replied to a question by 64 MEPs of six different political groups, saying that the EC has no intentions of altering its policy on the refugees' return to Italy and Greece and underlining that the main priority is the relocation of all candidates who are eligible, being in the two countries on 26th September.

Avramopoulos stressed that the migration pressure towards the two Mediterranean countries is high, the Commission supports all Member-States that accept refugees' relocation and highlighted that there needs to be a political agreement.

To conclude, he presented data indicating that Hungary, Poland and Czech Republichave denied all possible relocations from Greece and Italy, which has led to the initiation of infringement proceedings against the three countries by the European Commission. The said proceedings are based on these figures and on the fact that such figures show that the three countries follow a domestic policy that does not comply with the legal obligation of the relocation programme of the EU.../IBNA
