Albanian party in the governing coalition, BDI confirms its stand that it may boycott all future presidential elections, if its partner in coalition, VMRO of premier Nikola Gruevski refuses the idea for a consensual presidential candidate.
BDI spokesman, Bujar Osmani said that the boycott of presidential elections is one of the most serious alternatives of BDI in order to delegitimize the president who will not be acceptable for Albanians.
“There is no legitimate president of Macedonia without the will of Albanians. We have informed political parties and public opinion that it’s now time for the head of the state to reflect the will of the two large communities. BDI has the option of not participating in the elections if the will of Albanians is not respected. We’re not only talking about the upcoming elections, but every election which will take place in the future”, declared today (12.02) for IBNA, Bujar Osmani.
While BDI is expecting an official response, VMRO-DPMNE has reiterated its position that the presidential nominee will only be elected through the party’s convention on March 1. /ibna/
