British MEP, Richard Howitt, who was part of the talks for the solution of the crisis in FYROM, said that the 11 December elections and the functioning of the Special Prosecution are a real test for the country.
“The December elections will send a powerful message to the European Union and NATO as to the existence of democratic values in Macedonia”, said the British MEP, who is currently staying for a visit in Skopje. According to him, all political parties must comply with the Przino agreement and back the work of the Special Prosecution.
“The Mandate of the Special Prosecution must be respected and this institution must work without any pressure and obstruction. All abuses must be investigated and cases of abuse with power must be indicted. The upcoming elections are not only a test for politicians in Macedonia, but also a test to show whether Macedonia is fully committed to democratic principles and the rule of law”, said Howitt, who was also European Parliament’s rapporteur on FYROM. /balkaneu.com/
