The arrest of the head of the Regional Police of Southern Mitrovica, Nehat Thaci by Serb authorities, is the main reason why officials of central institutions in Kosovo have decided to cancel their participation in the Forum on Security that will be held on 13 October in Belgrade.

The deputy Minister of Local Government Administration, Bajram Gecaj, who is on the list of the Forum’s panel, declared that he will not participate in this meeting due to the failure to release Police Commissioner, Nehat Thaci.

Absent in this forum will also be the deputy Minister of European Integration, Ramadan Ilazi and Self Determination MP Dukagjin Gorani and Ilir Deda.

Police Commissioner of Southern Mitrovica, Nehat Thaci was arrested on 29 September in the border crossing point with Serbia and authorities there have accused him of terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Belgrade forum will discuss relations between the countries of the region and cooperation in order to boost security and stability in Southeastern Europe. Present in this meeting will be Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama and other leaders of the region. /balkaneu.com/
