The Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is in Paris where he is expected to stay on a two-day visit. His first meeting was with the General Secretary of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Angel Gurria.HRT reports that Croatia's premier finds the stance of the General Secretary "very affirmative on Croatia and its intention to join the OECD". As planned, within the coming period, the OECD council "will be considering six applications for membership, including Croatia's. If the Western Balkan country joins the Organisation it is believed that the sectors of economy, structural reforms, anti-corruption, public acquisitions and tax policies will be noticeably boosted."We expect that within the process that will last for the next year or year and a half, that it will come to an intensification of our talks, dialogues and Croatia’s accession to various international-legal documents that the OECD has and in that manner we will gradually go towards membership," said Plenković.The online English version of HRT (Voice of Croatia) reads that PM Plenković hopes that both Hungary and Slovenia will stop using the vetoes they put on Croatia’s request for membership in the OECD, "respecting the standpoint of Brussels on support for other member countries."Later on, the Croatian Prime Minister will participate in a summit on climate which will be held in the French capital. About 50 heads of state or government will meet to talk at the One Planet Summit, exactly two years after the signing of the Paris climate agreement, which, due to the latest decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to pull country out of it, is being topping the agenda of all leaders and government representatives who signed it in 2015.This Summit comes as an official response to the Trump move and is organised by France's Head, Emmanuel Macron. It will mainly focus on improving the methods used for the greenhouse gas emissions' reduction.../IBNAMain Photo: andrejplenkovic.hr
