Kosovo is presented for the first time as a national team in an international match. On Wednesday, March 5, Kosovo’s national football team will play Haiti in a friendly match. The match will be played in “Adem Jashari” Olympic stadium in Mitrovica.
This stadium was inaugurated a few hours ago (photo) by the prime minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci. He said that the stadium is ready to host the first official friendly match of Kosovo’s national football team.
“We expect to have on Wednesday the first historical match between Kosovo and Haiti, but we also hope to celebrate Kosovo’s victory”, said Thaci.
The prime minister said that he was impressed by the work that has been done during the reconstruction of the Olympic stadium in Mitrovica, according to UEFA and FIFA standards. He said that the government of Kosovo will continue to invest in sport and in the reconstruction of other stadiums throughout Kosovo.
Thaci has also invited all the citizens of Kosovo to celebrate the first match of their national team.
“On Wednesday we will play against Haiti and I expect a true celebration. I invite all of you who have purchased tickets to celebrate in a decent way, to show the highest sports values. I’d like to congratulate all of those who have worked up until this day. The government of the Republic of Kosovo has invested millions of Euros in sports infrastructure, especially in stadiums. Investments will continue even in the future”, said prime minister Thaci. /ibna/
