Court of Appeal handed a two year jail sentence for the former prime minister and former Macedonian minister of Defense, Vlado Buckovski.

Buckovski is accused of buying T-55 tank parts in 2001 during the time that he was minister of Defense, although these parts were not necessary. The court also found guilty the former chief of staff of the army, Metodija Stamboliski and three other former defense officials. The prosecution said that with his action, Buckovski had caused a 2,5 million Euros damage to the state budget and the entire supply tender has been considered a corruptive process.

This trial has lasted seven years and Buckovski said that he considers himself innocent. “This trial has been lasting for 7 years and I’m still looking for a missing justice. I will continue to look for justice in a higher court instance”, said Buckovski, who in the period from 2005 to 2006 was prime minister of the country from the ranks of the Macedonian Social Democratic League (LSDM). /ibna/
